Intro Post to Analina’s Journal

I know what you’re going to say. I said I never finish a story. Well, that’s not an entirely true statement. I did finish this one. It’s a very long fanfiction for the TV show Supernatural. I wrote it over the summer of 2015 and actually printed it out to make a physical book.

[I’ll show some behind-the-scenes pics on the making of the actual book in this post. I had fun doing it and was quite proud when it was completed. I did everything by hand — cover, pages, binding, etc. The physical book was completed in 2016.]

I admit it is a finished story. However, this was meant to be part of a trilogy, and I never quite even finished the second book. I’m thinking the “I never finish a story” might have some merit again.

Anyway, this summer project is technically 30 chapters long (which includes a prologue and bonus chapter at the end). With the weird formatting to make the physical book, it’s 406 pages long (over 94,000 words). This is the longest story I’ve written. However, I did use direct dialogue/scenes from the show. I took some of my favorite episodes (and those that needed to be there) to tweak them to fit into my story, which takes place in season 5—my favorite season.

It’s been a while since I thought about Supernatural. I didn’t watch the first few seasons as they aired, but Netflix got me hooked. I binged and then had to wait in agony for the rest of the show to air. I had gotten two of my coworkers obsessed with the show, because why should I suffer alone?

I remember one day my coworker and I were talking about the show. It was during one of the lunch hours, so we were the only ones in the office at the time. Suddenly, the phone rang. She reached over and answered in a pleasant, professional voice, “Hello, Supernatural?” She paused, realizing that was not the way she was supposed to answer the phone, before stammering to correct herself. I had ducked my head behind the computer monitor so I wouldn’t make her laugh and only emerged once the phone call had ended. It was hilarious. I told her that was great, and I will always remember that. In her defense, the name she should have used also began with an “S.”

In this fanfiction, I kept most of the Supernatural lore but added some tweaks now and again. I took some “real life” stories about the supernatural that someone had told me and put that in Analina’s life. This caused a slight change in the Winchester world, but nothing too extreme.

My best friend (who never watched the show) saw the book and asked if I was going to get it published. Unfortunately, no. I can only imagine the copyright lawsuits coming at my door with that one. This one is just for pure entertainment.

I hope you all enjoy it.
